Knowledge and software can improve healthcare Print

The ifa team presented the latest development for clinical decision support (CDS) at the ASCRS (American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery) meeting in Boston. The “Clinical Coding Management Module” (CCMM) allows the mapping between different terminology systems and the local clinical language. With standard terminologies such as SNOMED (Systemized Nomenclature in Medicine) and ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) physicians can exchange information and use second opinions and improve the communication in co-management networks.

Robert Habel, Director international Key Accounts: “ The CCMM is ideal to implement international bilingual EMR projects. For our new project in Mexico City we use the coding system to map all clinical terms in Spanish and English. That supports the communication of leading international eye institutes and the corresponding exchange of medical knowledge”
