First FEMTO Study using EUREQUO platform Print

The EUREQUO project is the largest Health IT project in international ophthalmology. Its exclusive provider is the ifa Group (ifa systems AG and Integration AG), having signed a long-term agreement mid-2013 up to 2017 with the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS).

The EUREQUO platform for clinical studies is to be expanded within the context of this long-term agreement. The first study will examine the results of femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). The FLACS study was launched with international participation during the second week of January 2014. According to Peter Scherer, Vice President of ifa United i-tech Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (USA): "With the FEMTO study, the EUREQUO project opens up a completely new realm of possibilities for IT-supported research in ophthalmology. The focus on long-term development of innovative technology is paying off for all stakeholders and the industry, and will apply fresh momentum to Health IT in international ophthalmology. Over 1,000 ophthalmologists worldwide are taking part, with numbers increasing every month”.
