Great Success for the ifa Team: “EUREQUO Goes Global“ Print

The European EUREQUO program (, the biggest IT project in ophthalmology so far, is now going global. This is a great success for the ifa group of companies, the ESCRS’ (European Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, exclusive IT partner.

So far, approx. one million ophthalmic operations performed by more than 1,000 different surgeons from 17 countries have been stored in the web-based quality database. Based on this data, expert committees develop quality guidelines and surgeons may compare their results to those of their fellow surgeons (anonymously).

The ESCRS will be presenting the successful project and the concept of its global expansion at its next meeting, which will be held from 8 to 12 September 2012 in Milan/Italy. The ifa group is currently preparing the international expansion of the project, e. g. with IT investments in Asia and America. In future, interfaces for direct transmission of surgery data from the ifa EMR will be available to ifa users. This is especially attractive for clients from the US and China, where there is no such application yet.

According to Robert Habel, ifa’s Director of International Sales, the long-term project underlines the ifa group’s role as the leading provider of Health IT for ophthalmology. The whole team is proud of the project having proven itself so successful to the ESCRS that it is now being expanded to international markets, he said and concluded that this will further gain ifa important competitive advantages on all markets.
