EMR is a hot topic in the USA
The United States Federal Government, fully supported by the Executive and Legislative branches, is a motivated advocate for the adoption of EHR/EMR (Electronic Health Record/Electronic Medical Record) by the entire healthcare industry. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 set forth an assertive digital patient’s records initiative with a financial stimulus package valued at more than $19 billion (USD). Please see our Power Point for more information on this topic.
Under the stimulus package, health care institutes and medical professionals who meet the certification requirements for the meaningful use of an EHR/EMR can be eligible for between $44,000 to $64,000 in Medicare or Medicaid reimbursements, distributed over a five year period. For the eye care market, that means a funding between $800 million and $1,000 million (USD) through 2016. View presentation
